For book fiends, avid readers and those whose bookshelves are threatening to take over at home, e-readers can be hugely helpful. A neat way to read on the go, they offer an entire library to choose from.
Amazon says their All-new Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (16 GB) is their “fastest Kindle ever”. The 4.5 starred gadget is £129.99 - down from £159.99, that’s a 19% discount.
Super slim so it can be tucked into bags and even pockets without weighing them down, it’s available in a stylish jade (a deep turquoise/green), black and raspberry (pink), but it does feature adverts.
It is possible to pay more in order to ditch them though. With a battery life that can last up to 12 weeks - depending on how much reading shoppers are doing - it’s waterproof, so can be used in the bath. Much better than ending up with a soggy-paged paperback.

Kindles are the market leader, and arguably the most recognisable e-reader brand, but there are others out there. Argos has the Kobo Clara BW 16GB Wi-Fi E-Reader - Black for £129.99. This product doesn’t come with a charging device (they do advise what works though), but has a glare-free screen, so can be used even in bright sunlight, and the blue light it emits can be turned down so it doesn’t disrupt sleep. Alternatively, Currys has the POCKETBOOK Verse 6" eReader - 8GB, Grey, costing £119. It’s small and compact and has the added bonus of having multiple dictionaries installed, so you can read stories in other languages.
One customer said of the new Kindle Paperwhite: "Levels up your reading game. So I haven't had a Kindle before and don't know the changes/differences between this one and older models. But I can say it's completely levelled up my reading game. I have only had it a couple of weeks and read 5 books. I read a lot on holiday and have always wanted to read more at home, but I'm often put off by the prices of books, even when getting second-hand ones. There is also a wait time receiving them in the mail."
A second said: “The battery life is fantastic - I've gone for days without charging, even with regular use. The waterproof design is another great feature, giving me peace of mind when I read by the pool or at the beach. Easy to use, lightweight to hold. Functional for what it's used for and overall great quality. Overall, this Kindle has made my reading experience so much better.”

Another added: “Absolutely the best thing I have bought in ages! I am reading even more because of how easy this Kindle makes it just to pick up and go… millions of books immediately at your fingertips. I now read on the bus as you don’t need any room other than to keep swiping or tapping without moving. Easy.”
However, one said: “The screen is really good. The contrast is excellent, and it's really clear even in bright sun. It's also really quick. Having to pay to remove ads and the fact that value for money is a bit low means that it doesn't get the full four stars.”

Another flagged: “Lovely size, but no home button, so until I learn how to use it, I'm struggling between books and home/library.”
Once it is up and running though, it is an easier way to travel if you're a bookworm so you can speed through as many titles as you like without worrying about space or lugging around hard copies of books.
